Welcome to Stonebird Wines
“From the savanna of Zimbabwe to the dramatic southern coast line of South Africa and now the cool rolling hillsides of the United Kingdom, Stonebird has landed!”
“Stonebird is a symbolic name that represents a winemaking philosophy and the innate connection of these wines to nature and the ground from where they originate.”
“Our grapes are sourced from extremely stony sites, Our winemaking is gentle and hands-on and Our wines honour the integrity, time and authenticity of Our approach.”
The Amphoras
Our wine is aged in clay amphoras, a process that goes back almost 6,000 years. The amphora renaissance is making a comeback and when you taste our wine you will understand why.

We have been working with Gavin and Stonebird since back in the day when the wines were Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and the amazing Gonzo made in South Africa. We’ve followed the transition to wines grown and made in over here in the UK and throughout we’ve been impressed by the amazing quality, focus and drinkability of everything Gavin makes, coaxing the best out of each vineyard and vintage he works with. As such, the Stonebird wines have been a permanent fixture on the shelves at Iron & Rose, and on the list and regularly featured by the glass at GlouGlou, our bar. Robin Nugent
